Ron DeSantis is an American legal professional, naval officer, baby-kisser, and author. A Republican, he has been Governor of Florida, since January 8, 2019. He was prior to now a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Florida, from January 3, 2013 to September 10, 2018. He joined the U.S. Navy in 2004, where he was once a lieutenant, and later felony consultant to SEAL Team One; in this capability, he was once stationed at Joint Task Force Guantanamo in 2006, and deployed to Iraq in 2007. In 2008, he was appointed Special Assistant U.S. lawyer in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Middle District of Florida.

He is a candidate for the Republican Party’s nomination for President of the United States in 2024.
